Responsibilities
Below is an overview of the main responsibilities you’ll take on in this role.
Design, enhance, and maintain scalable, secure, and future-proof data warehouse and platform architectures aligned with business objectives.
Establish and enforce data governance standards including data quality, lineage, access control, and compliance monitoring.
Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of the overall data ecosystem.
Promote best practices in data engineering, platform architecture, and infrastructure automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data solutions.
Drive automation across data pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure provisioning.
Optimize cloud resource utilization to balance performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Enable secure and governed data sharing across teams and external partners.
Provide capacity planning insights based on warehouse usage and infrastructure growth trends.
Continuously evaluate emerging tools and technologies to improve platform capabilities.
Qualifications
The following are the key qualifications and attributes we believe are essential for success in this position.
Education:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Technology, or related fields.
Experience:
Proven experience in a Data Engineer or similar role, focusing on designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and scalable data infrastructure.
Hands-on experience in data integration, data transformation, and data warehouse development.
Experience working with modern data platforms and tools such as cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift) and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Talend, or similar).
Strong experience using SQL for data extraction, transformation, and performance optimization.
Experience collaborating with data analysts, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions aligned with business requirements.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize data pipelines and data workflows.
Additional Knowledge:
Understanding of data governance, data quality management, and data security principles.
Familiarity with data architecture concepts, including data lakes, data warehouses, and modern data stack practices.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Skills:
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.
Experience using Python or similar programming languages for data processing and automation.
Knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Talend, or equivalent).
Familiarity with data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling (star and snowflake schemas).
Experience preparing and structuring datasets for analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
